BEFORE YOU WATCH it...yes, I do think it's cheesy and the guy needs to get a pair of shoes and the music is lame-o. However, I thought it was a great concept. Just watch the video for the first minute and you already see him doing muscle ups, knees to elbows, throws, climbs, pulls, and everything else we do in Crossfit- even Parkour! He's like the ultimate Crossfitter but with a great tan! Is he gonna die from doing the stuff he does? Quite probably, and soon, but I'd still like to do some of that stuff. Pair this concept with Crossfit and you've got the ultimate human. BTW- make sure to watch it in HD! No BEM( short for back extension machine- this not a legit abbreviation... just made it up) . For those of you out of the loop Michael consists of:&lt;br /&gt;3 Rounds of&lt;br /&gt;-Run 800 m&lt;br /&gt;-50 back extensions&lt;br /&gt;-50 situps&lt;br /&gt;For time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Okay, for your info I always rock this WOD( okay in my mind at least-as always) cause I can do back extensions pretty fast as well as sit ups. The hiccup of having no BEM turned out to be a lot tougher than predicted. Got this idea( sorta) from &lt;a href="http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_NoExcusesMilitaryAustere.wmv"&gt;THIS VIDEO&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;...watch the whole thing!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The upside&lt;/span&gt;: easy to set up and if you put enough plates like I did you will have plenty of room to extend all the way down getting that full extension in without cheating. Also, if you want to work your hammies a lot better than just a regular BEM USE THIS, SERIOUSLY. This makes you use JUST your hammies and since theres no foot holder your legs kind of raise making it somewhat of an isolation. Isolation isnt what we usually go for. However, if you are working on power/olympic lifting this is the REAL DEAL. Strong hammies that pop you out of a squat is of the utmost importance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;The downside&lt;/span&gt;: see that little strap...doesn't hold as well as a regualr BEM. Its a far stretch from what I used to do- Precision Nutrition( which is great too by the way- it just doesn't cater to my specific goals anymore) for which I would consume&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;font-size:130%;" &gt;2,500-3,000 calories PER DAY&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I decided to go to eleven this week because twelve and thirteen blocks were too much food for me. I know, I could replace some carbs with Higher GI stuff but I cant bring myself to do it. Turns out eleven blocks is perfect for me and I love it. Here is my diet  thus far( the numbers next to the meals indicate the blocks)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3- Eggs, oatmeal, peanut butter( I'm not being specific because I am lazy)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3- Chicken or Scoop of vanilla protein, one banana( can you believe one banana is three blocks of carbs?)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1- String Cheese, 1 very small apple, avocado or peanuts&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3- chicken, green beans, asparagus, olive oil&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1- String Cheese, 1 very small apple, avocado or peanuts&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;There it is! And it is gooood.  That's what I eat every day. Of course, I deviate. We ran out of food a few days ago so for my carbsI had four blocks of Ice Cream( no, I dont keep ice cream in the fridge- it was someone else's). I used to like Ice Cream before this unpleasant incident- not anymore. 1 block= 1/2 cup. I am nervous- I get the pre-WOD jitters. I feel like I'm going into battle everytime I begin to think about what the next WOD will be-thats probably the best way to describe the pre-WOD jitters. I start strategizing in my head but then remember that i shouldnt do that because the whole point is to be able to perform any task at random. Ugh... its a vicious cycle but I like it. Its all just part of the game. Everyone in our group has been doing it long enough that we all get them. You get butterflies in your tummy right before. The funny thing is that they go away instantly and after your done you get this "Adrenaline High". I find that newbies dont get them- it takes a while until you realize what your actually doing and then you get them consistently. Ryan and I( along with a few others in our group ....cough*mark medina* cough) have a sort of nervous tick right before the WOD. We stretch...A LOT... right before a workout. "Oh, hold on! I dont think I stretched my right lat yet...darn...i guess i still need a minute." I think were trying to avoid the 15- minute-near- death- experience called Crossfit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can read up on what exactly the Crossfit Classic entails on the FitQuest blog found in the links. What makes me really nervous is that we are picking the workouts the night before. Im really hoping to not see Isabel or Jackie come up. I dont wanna have to scale which I might have to if Isabel comes up. I can already feel my lungs burning. But, at the same time, I feel like a fat kid with a cookie- I crave these workouts soooo much! I hope a few newbies join in too so they can experience all of these things- their first time doing Fran, the arm pump, and the Pre-WOD Jitters.
